Puppet Arm Chair Complete

I built a new arm chair for the set today.  The arm chair is made of wood and canvas with a little bit of foam.  Not likely to be comfortable.  But the puppet will not really worry about it.  The bottom and seat cushion is designed for controlling the puppet.

New set completed

I finished a new set this weekend.  It is a partially finished basement with a window well and a stage right exist to upstairs.  The Puppets will be able to act from any spot inside of the room through the removable flooring.  The window well will be a space where a puppet can be acted from.  The well has both sides and a back, but no bottom.

I am going to rewrite the story that I was working on (Partnership for a Czar Free America) and use the Leon and Norra puppets.

Isaac van Helsing Puppet

Now that the contest submission period has closed, here are the details for my latest puppet creation.

Character Overview
Isaac van Helsing was the younger brother to Abraham van Helsing. Isaac tried to live up to the high standards set by his 18 year older brother, but never seemed able to.  What Isaac lacked in scientific acumen, he made up for in sheer determination.  Where his brother focused on mental illnesses, and occult maladies, Isaac focused on hunting down and killing werewolves.  In 1890, Isaac was severely burned on the right side of his face when an Inn caught fire while Isaac was killing a werewolf that had murdered the family and guests that were present.   Isaac disappeared and was presumed killed while hunting a werewolf in the Rhine valley on December 23, 1893. We now know the reality of the situation, Doctor Minit’s time machine caused Isaac van Helsing to fall through time and arrive at Doctor Minit’s lab in 2011.  The question now, what will Isaac do now?

Construction Details
The Roly pattern was modified to allow the upper right side of the face to be constructed out of leather.  The lower right jaw area was made out fleece so that the mouths motion wouldn’t be impacted.  The remainder of the puppet was built from fleece.  The jacket is made from faux fur and canvas.  The cross bow is made out of maple.

Just finished jacket. One word, Awesome.

I just finished sewing the “Wolf” skin jacket.  It went together very well.  The fur and the black canvas work well together.  The new puppet’s name is Isaac.  This will keep him nice and warm when he is out in the wilderness hunting…

Jacket for Puppet

I have laid out the outer pattern and cut the fabric.  I will lay out the lining tomorrow.

The fabric is a fake fur so I am sure it is going to be a ton of fun to sew.

Puppet making good progress

The puppet is making good progress.  I am moving on to making a jacket for him.  I am using this pattern for it.

I am choosing fabric that is quite different.  I will show more as it comes along.
